Voltaren 50

Voltaren 50 tablets are a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (juvenile rheumatoid arthritis), ankylosing spondylitis, acute pain, primary dysmenorrhea and primary dyspareunia. Each film-coated tablet contains 50mg of diclofenac (as hydroxyethylcellulose HyCadra 100).

It works by reducing pain and swelling, which is caused by the body's production of a substance called prostaglandins. It also decreases pain and swelling from inflammation, particularly from the back and legs. In addition to being used for treating osteoarthritis, Voltaren 50 tablets also relieves primary dysmenorrhea. Voltaren 50 tablets are also used to treat acute pain and reduce fever. Voltaren 50 tablets are only suitable for adults.

What is the recommended dosage of Voltaren 50?

For adults and adolescents 14 years of age and older: The usual recommended dosage is one Voltaren 50 tablet per day. You should take the lowest dose that produces the desired effect.

For adolescents > 14 years of age: The usual recommended dosage is one Voltaren 50 tablet per day.

For adolescents <14 years of age: The usual recommended dosage is one Voltaren 50 tablet per day.

For older adults: The recommended dosage is one Voltaren 50 tablet per day.

What are the side effects of Voltaren 50 tablets?

As with all medicines, Voltaren 50 tablets may cause some unwanted effects. If any of these or any other of the following applies:

• You are allergic to diclofenac or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
• You have heart problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding;
• You are taking aspirin or ibuprofen: You should not take Voltaren 50 tablets if you are taking aspirin or ibuprofen, because this can lead to serious side effects such as stomach upset and bleeding;
• You have blood pressure issues, because this can lead to serious side effects such as heart attack, heart failure, heart attacks, stroke, and kidney problems. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you are at risk of these side effects. In addition to the above-listed side effects, there can be serious side effects.
